Carol has lived in the area for over 30 years. She took up watercolour painting in her retirement as a member of the HCC's Education Advisory Team. The U3A pastel group was her starting point and soon she was attending various courses - particular favourites were those held at Snape Maltings, in Suffolk, close to "Cakes & Ale" her favourite Suffolk bolthole! Joining the Willow Watercolour group was her best step forward as there she met other enthusiasts eager to enjoy and achieve new skills. Her love of the outdoors is reflected in the number of landscapes and seascapes that she paints - tho' she is still open to other inspirations, of course. Last Jan/Feb 2003 she was invited by her original tutor and mentor - Tanya Turton - to share an exhibition at the Boxfield Gallery in Stevenage, and in addition to the Willow Watercolours shows she exhibits regularly with the Welwyn Garden City Art Club as well as several other local exhibitions. Since visiting Arizona and Utah last year, she became very conscious of trying to achieve mood and atmosphere in her paintings - so now you can judge for yourself!
